How Forces Affect Motion
Velocity
Velocity is an object’s speed in a particular direction. If the direction changes, the velocity will also change.

Acceleration
Acceleration is an increase in speed. Deceleration is a decrease in speed.
Force
A push or pull that causes an object to move, stop, or change direction A force will cause an object with mass to accelerate.
Forces can affect motion in several ways:
•→ They can make objects start moving.
•→ They can make objects move faster.
•→ They can make objects move slower.
•→ They can make objects stop moving.
•→ They can make objects change direction.

Laws of Motion: Inertia
Inertia is the tendency of an object to remain in motion or stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force.
Mass and Momentum
Momentum describes how strong a moving thing is. Things that aren't moving have no momentum. Moving things have less momentum if they are light or moving slowly, and more momentum if they are heavy or moving fast.
